Relationship With God
God's desire and our desire is for you to come to know God in a true and real way. It all starts with a relationship with Him through His one and only Son Jesus.
THIS IS HOW YOU CAN BECOME A CHRISTIAN AND HAVE A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD:
1) Realize and admit that you are a sinner: A sinner is someone
who has chosen to go his/her own way instead of God’s way, and
is therefore separated from God. Romans 3:23 says, “For all
have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God,” or His
standard. Sin separates us from God and the result is spiritual
death and eventually Hell (Romans 6:23). If you are not saved
from your sins, then you are a sinner. Admit it to yourself
and to God. See also Romans 3:9-18, Luke 19:10, and 1 John 1:8.
2) Realize that you cannot save yourself: Church membership, doing
good deeds, being a good person, or living a moral life are
all good things, but they cannot save you. You cannot earn
God’s forgiveness or favor or get to Heaven by your own
efforts. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For it is by grace you have
been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it
is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast.”
See also Romans 3:19-31.
3) Come God’s way: Only Jesus Christ can save you from your sins.
The penalty for sin is eternal separation from God, but Jesus
offers you the free gift of eternal life with God! God sent His
one and only Son, Jesus, to die on the cross as the punishment
(penalty) for our sins. The blood that Jesus shed for us on the
cross was payment for our sins. God then raised Jesus from the
dead three days later, declaring that He truly is the Son of God
and signyfing His victory over sin, death, and Hell. Jesus
lovingly did all this so that we can have eternal life with Him
in Heaven (John 3:16-18). “But God demonstrates His own love for
us in this: While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”
(Romans 5:8). “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is
no other name [Jesus] under Heaven given to men by which we must
be saved” (Acts 4:12).
4) Repent of your sins: Confess your sins to God, tell Him that
you are sorry for your sins, and ask Him to forgive you. He
loves you and will forgive anyone who is sincere (1 John 1:8-
1 John 2:2). Repent means to acknowledge your sins and to be
truly sorry for them, to confess them to God, and then to turn
away and forsake them with God’s help. See also Proverbs 28:13,
Luke 13:3, Romans 2:4, and 2 Corinthians 7:9-10.
5) Place your trust in Jesus: Ask Jesus into your heart and life
and to be your personal Savior and Lord. You can have a real
and personal relationship with Him! “Yet to all who received
Him [Jesus], to those who believed in His name, He gave the
right to become children of God” (John 1:12-13). Believe means
to trust in, cling to, rely on, and follow. Pray to God now
and He will save you and give you His love, peace, joy, and
abundant life in Him! See also John 3:35-36, John 10:10, Romans
10:9-13, and Revelation 3:20.

If you would like to trust Jesus for your salvation and receive Him as your Savior and Lord, then pray something like this:
Thank you for loving me and caring for me. I confess that I have sinned against You. I am truly sorry. I believe that Your Son, Jesus, suffered and died on the cross to pay the penalty for my sin and that You raised Him from the dead. I trust Jesus alone to forgive me and to save me. With Your help, I turn away from my sin and turn to You and ask You to give me new life. I ask you to be my Savior and Lord. Thank you for your wonderful gift of eternal life! I pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.
